Paymark announces resignation of Simon Tong

Paymark announces resignation of Simon Tong
Paymark Chairman, Sue Sheldon, today announced the resignation of Chief Executive Simon Tong, with effect from 30 September 2013.

“Simon has been with us for more than seven years and has contributed enormously to our strong growth and reputation as one of the world’s leading payments networks. He has brought great rigour and focus to the organisation and it has developed significantly under his stewardship. We will be sorry to see him go and will work closely with him until his successor is in place,” says Sheldon.

To that end, an executive search and selection process will commence imminently with internal candidates also being considered.

“2012 was a fantastic year for Paymark, arguably our best. Financially we’re in brilliant shape, our management team is as strong as it’s ever been and both our customer satisfaction and employee engagement scores have never been higher. And thanks to our innovative technology we’re now playing a significant role in bringing everyday electronic payments to mobile devices,” says Tong.

“As New Zealanders we are world-leading in our adoption of electronic payments and it has been a privilege to lead the team whose role it is to ensure the safe, secure and reliable processing of Kiwi’s transactions everyday.

“It’s been a difficult decision to make but it’s time to move on, start afresh and explore new challenges. Whilst I remain fully committed to the business, this lengthy notice period will allow me to work closely with the Board to ensure a smooth leadership transition,” he concludes.
