Stonewood Homes growth from
Eco homes and Green building technology
A record March was the ideal end to a record year for Christchurch-based home building company, Stonewood Homes who has been focusing on green building for healthier new homes.
Brent Mettrick, Managing Director of Stonewood Homes believes one of the main reasons behind Stonewood Homes’ meteoric rise from local home builder to one of the biggest national homebuilding companies in New Zealand is the company’s commitment to Eco Homes and green building. In Stonewood’s case this translates to a focus on homes which are better insulated and therefore cheaper to run, along with use of renewable resources and non-toxic building materials.
Although some of this growth has inevitably come from the Christchurch rebuild, Brent Mettrick says “the fact that most has come from outside of Canterbury is a very positive indicator of better times ahead for the building industry”.
“We’ve spent the last few years building up an excellent network of franchises around the country, and providing them with a support system we believe is second to none” he explains, “and now that hard work and investment is really starting to pay off.”
In recent years, Mettrick has travelled the world looking at better ways to build warmer, drier homes, and has also made a point of supporting New-Zealand based initiatives as well. In fact, Stonewood Homes are the only New Zealand homebuilding company to sponsor and be involved in the creation of the Homestar energy rating system. For more information on Stonewood & Homestar see their website, www.stonewood.co.nz/homestar
Their commitment was also recognised recently when Stonewood Homes came second in the New River list of 50 commercially successful New Zealand companies improving the environment – the only homebuilding company to make this prestigious list.
Stonewood Homes is a Christchurch based home building company established in 1987. The company through its franchise network has built over 4,000 new homes and is now one of the largest new home builders in New Zealand.
