Air New Zealand further enhances domestic customer experience
Air New Zealand staff have today welcomed the first customers into the airline’s brand new and considerably larger domestic Koru Lounge at Christchurch International Airport.
The opening of the lounge, which includes a raft of sustainable design features, follows the recent unveiling of a refreshed flagship domestic Koru Lounge at Auckland Airport.
Air New Zealand Manager Global Lounges & Valet Verity Jade says the new look lounges provide a more consistent domestic customer journey and have been designed to meet the changing needs and interests of customers.
“As part of the design process, we have created distinct zones to suit the range of customers we serve. Whether someone wants to kick back and relax or plug in and get some work done, the new lounge layout offers more choice and a solution to suit the situation,” says Jade.
The new lounge has around double the number of seats of the previous lounge allowing customers plenty of room while enjoying a wide range of premium New Zealand food and beverages.
In addition to the New Zealand designed furniture and fabrics, sustainability has been a focus in the design with the inclusion of recyclable carpet, sustainably manufactured floor and wall tiles, low energy LED lighting and water efficient plumbing fixtures. One of the most striking features is the unique sculptural ceiling tiles, made largely from recycled plastic bottles and inspired by the snow-capped Southern Alps.
Well known New Zealand furniture designer Simon James has incorporated his flair within the lounge layout with tiered seating to provide customers with expansive views of the runway and Southern Alps through floor to ceiling windows.
