Silver Fern Farms: Convenience with 7 Day Calf Service

Silver Fern Farms Focussed On Convenience with 7 Day Calf Service

Silver Fern Farms believes their bobby calf service will take the pressure off dairy farmers this calving season due to extended coverage of their 7 day collection service across the country.

The company will begin processing in June through to November with a convenient seven-day collection service in peak season says General Manager Livestock Procurement Andy Perry.

“We want to take the hassle out of booking calves for dairy farmers this season.”

“We have agreements with transport companies around the country to collect every day during the peak, and they’ll let you know when they’ll pick up ahead of time so you can plan your feeding times. Getting calves fed and promptly picked up is what dairy farmers want as it helps their calves arrive with us in good condition – which is what everyone wants.”

Dairy farmers who have supplied in previous seasons have been sent registration forms for the service. Mr Perry says farmers who are interested in the service but have not supplied in previous years are to contact their Silver Fern Farms livestock representative to register and to pre-order their free tags.

“We have a strong New Zealand brand and a global reach for our beef products that’s built on delivering customers what they want. Making the calf collection process run smoothly for farmers helps us maintain that valued reputation with our international customers.”

“We have a great network of transport companies who we have contracted to collect daily across the country with only a couple of areas in Taranaki where we are on alternate day collection.”

Six suppliers who return their registration forms before May 24 will also win a $2,500 travel voucher.

“After a busy calving season a trip away for some lucky suppliers is good reward for their hard work.”

An incentive payment for calves and cows is also in place with the company offering an additional payment for cull cows processed during the season.

“The bonus is on a 1:4 ratio, so if you supply four bobbies and one cow through the season you’ll get the incentive for the calves.”

Farmers can contact their Silver Fern Farms Livestock Representative through the customer service line on 0800 362 362.
