Update on SKY outage
At 9.55am 33 SKY
channels went off the air displaying ‘Atmospheric
Condition’ messages.
This was due to damage to Chorus fibre in the Puhoi region caused by a digger performing work independently of Chorus.
SKY’s fibre link, used to transport content from Albany to Warkworth, was broken along with the SKY’s back-up fibre.
SKY took immediate action and was able to restore SKY Sport 3, SKY Sport 4, SoHo, ESPN and Prime in standard definition prior to the repair to the fibre.
At approximately 2.25pm this afternoon Chorus was able to repair the fibre and all SKY channels could be viewed.
SKY Spokeswomen Kirsty Way said;
“First of all we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to SKY customers. This outage was out of SKY’s direct control and we worked diligently with third parties to achieve a resolution as quickly as possible. We’d like to stress that none of SKY’s systems have failed. We ask customers to please be sure to check all series links on the following channels; SKY Sport 3, 4, ESPN, SoHo and Prime as some may have been lost as we worked to bring the channel back on air”.
“We thank Chorus for the prompt action they took to remedy the incident today”.
SKY will continue to monitor and test all channels to ensure a complete fix has been achieved.
