Media Release 29 May 2013

Ecopoint LED Lights Now at Mitre 10 Mega, Petone

Ecopoint, a local company specialising in providing high quality, environmentally friendly LED lighting solutions, has announced that its small panel lighting range is now available through Mitre 10 MEGA in Petone, Wellington.

The small panel range, designed primarily for residential use, features a sleek architectural look and are an attractive, energy efficient lighting option.

Paul Wilton, Ecopoint’s Director, said: “We are really pleased that these lights are now available through a retail outlet. This product is ideal for residential settings, and we think that our domestic customers will enjoy being able to get into Mitre 10 MEGA Petone to see the lights in action, which they haven’t been able to do before. We are looking forward to being able to reach more residential customers through Mitre 10. Together, we can help people understand the many benefits of LED lighting.”

Ecopoint’s panel light range comes in a variety of sizes and colours and their thin form factor means the panels are ideal for applications where ceiling void space is limited, like apartments. They are also the only light of their type to carry the coveted IC-F rating, which means insulation can be laid directly over the light in the ceiling cavity. This ensures that the issue of drafts or heat loss is eliminated; increasing the energy efficiency of the building.

While the lights have been available to businesses and electricians through electrical wholesalers, including Advance Electrical, Corys and Stewart's; their placement in a retail outlet is a significant development that excites both Ecopoint and Mitre 10 MEGA Petone’s Store Manager Cliff Lockyer.

“It is great to be the first retail outlet to stock Ecopoint’s range of panel lights. LED lights are the lights of the future and we look forward to being able to further educate homeowners about the many benefits of LED, including reduced energy costs, and their ultra-long life. We are confident that these lights will sell well. Their easy installation is bound to appeal to homeowners and those into DIY,” said Mr Lockyer.

Ecopoint is a 100% New Zealand owned and operated company. Their range of super-efficient LED lights, which includes fluorescent tubes, flood lights and high bays, can significantly reduce the amount of power used for lighting, by up to 70%. Their ultra-long life span substantially cuts down on maintenance and replacement costs associated with standard fluorescent lights, all while being less harmful on the environment. Ecopoint’s lights don’t flicker, are UV and mercury free, 100% recyclable, and crucially, are easily retrofitted. They also come with a three year warranty.

“Ecopoint continues to lead the way with our product range, which is constantly expanding. Moving into the domestic market is very exciting, we are excited to see how the public responds,” says Mr Wilton.
