Vector Network Summary for week ending 2 June 2013

Vector Network Summary for week ending 2 June 2013

ELECTRICITY
Last week’s bitterly cold weather brought high electricity demand from households, particularly during the early evening peak.

Demand hit 1,718 MW just after 7 pm on Wednesday night, (29 May). Last year, at the same time, our peak was 1,511 MW. Our record peak was in 2011, when Auckland experienced snow in some parts of the city and we recorded 1,852 MW.
The week of stormy weather also brought down power lines in Mt Eden, Clevedon, Mangere and Riverhead.
There were seven car vs pole incidents in Kumeu, Remuera, Blockhouse Bay, Stanmore Bay, Tapora and two in Mt Wellington.
Our crews were called out to isolate the power at six properties - five homes and two buildings during the week – due to fires at the premises.
GAS TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION
Contractors working in Takapuna, Otahuhu and in Tokoroa struck gas pipes and repairs were made swiftly to the network.
