Sealord Recalls No Added Salt Canned Salmon 210g

Sealord Recalls No Added Salt Canned Salmon 210g

Sealord is conducting a voluntary recall of its No Added Salt Canned Salmon 210g following a discovery of a fragment of brass in a can. No other products are affected.

The batch affected has the code 2025P DN217 embossed on the lid of the can and the products have been on sale at supermarkets throughout New Zealand since 5th February 2013. A piece of brass found in one can has been identified as part of the production equipment.

“There is a possibility that other pieces of a brass nozzle could be in other cans and we are recalling the batch as a precautionary measure,” said Public Affairs and Communications Manager Alison Sykora.

Brass is used on machinery for washing down equipment and the piece of metal found has been traced back to the factory in Alaska where the product was canned.

“We will be working with our partners to understand how this happened and make sure it doesn’t happen again. In the mean time we want to keep consumers informed about this issue,” said Sykora.

Consumers can return their No Added Canned Salmon 210g code 2025P DN217 to their local supermarket for a full refund or contact Sealord on 0800 732 5673 for further information.
