Auckland Airport home to yet another world leading business

Media Release | 14 June 2013

Auckland Airport now home to yet another world leading business

The Panalpina Group, one of the world’s leading providers of supply chain solutions, is the latest in a string of global companies to join Auckland Airport’s rapidly expanding Business District.

Operating a global network with over 500 offices in more than 80 countries, and employing 15,000 people worldwide, Panalpina World Transport is set to move into their new premises in the Auckland Airport Business District mid-next year.

Peter Alexander, Auckland Airport General Manager Property, says the decision by Panalpina World Transport to move to The District follows on from a number of global companies who have also recently chosen to base themselves at Auckland Airport.

“We are thrilled to welcome Panalpina World Transport to The District,” says Mr Alexander. “What we are seeing is more and more global companies making the move to this area because of the proximity we can provide for them in terms of their clients and customers within New Zealand and also abroad.”

“This connectivity, combined with the scale of amenities we have on offer here, as well as the security and flexibility that The District provides, means we have a very attractive place for businesses to choose to relocate too – evidenced by the continual growth of The District and the number of businesses that have recently moved here.”

The Panalpina Group will move into a newly designed and built warehouse and office facility on Joseph Hammond Drive, with the development fronting to George Bolt Memorial Drive, the main road to the Airport. The facility will be Panalpina’s head office in New Zealand, comprising a 3,000 square metre warehouse and a 600 square metre office.

Chris Marks, Panalpina Country Manager New Zealand, says the Airport Business District offered the company opportunities that other locations could not provide. “We are delighted to be relocating to a purpose built facility which will better support our integrated logistics solutions to both existing and prospective customers.”

“The Auckland Airport Business District offers an excellent location with flexibility for future expansion to support our growth plans. The selected site will also provide Panalpina in New Zealand an opportunity to promote our global brand,” finishes Mr Marks.
