How to Find the Perfect Match
MEDIA RELEASE JULY 2013
How to Find the Perfect Match
Pale ale, pilsner, lager, golden ale, amber ale, wheat beer, dark beer, NZ draught, stout, porters, Abbey ale – and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Beer drinkers have never been so spoilt for choice, but sometimes the vast array of options on offer can be overwhelming and confusing.
Now there’s Made to Match – a series presented by Al Brown that provides a simple guide to different styles of beer and how they match with food.
Each month in Made to Match, Al features a new beer matched to one of his fantastic recipes, as well as answering all the important beer questions: how are the different styles of beer brewed? How do they taste? What do they taste best with? How many calories are in my drink? Should I drink it from the bottle or a glass?
With Made to Match episodes screening now on TV ONE and TV2 in commercial airtime, there’s never been a better time to explore New Zealand’s exciting world of beer. As well as the monthly recipe and beer match, Made to Match has a website offering background on the beer styles and brewing process, busting myths and misconceptions, and sharing regular food matching ideas.
Dave Pearce from Lion comments: “With Made to Match, we want to provide some simple hints and tips to help Kiwis enjoy their beer even more – whether that’s trying something new, experimenting with food matching, or simply finding out a bit more about their favourite beers.”
In making this series, Al Brown says he’s also learning and exploring New Zealand’s vast beer market in a new way.
“I’ve been so surprised by how much is on offer, and thoroughly enjoying how versatile different brews can be with different food pairings. My philosophy has always been to keep things simple and I think that the concept of Made to Match has that in mind too. I’m certain that like me, Kiwis will find Made to Match a very useful tool for entertaining, and getting the most enjoyment out of New Zealand’s fantastic beer.”
Look out for Made to Match wherever you buy beer – whether it’s supermarkets, bottle stores, restaurants or pubs. You can find information on Al’s latest beer and food match on handy recipe cards at participating retailers, and the Made to Match website has a comprehensive set of tasting notes and food matching advice, along with plenty of other handy tips to enjoy your beer even more.
