Symposium on improving China business strategy

A Wellington perspective on doing business in China will feature in an upcoming symposium co-hosted by Victoria Business School, New Zealand Contemporary China Research Centre and Wellington City Council.

Two visiting China business experts, Associate Professor Yuhuang Zheng (Tsinghua University, Beijing) and Patrick Chovanec (Managing Director and Chief Strategist at Silvercrest Asset Management, New York), will talk about the latest academic research and insights on marketing in China and attracting investment from China.

This will be followed by panel discussions featuring Wellington experts on China:

• Gerard Quinn, Chief Executive, Grow Wellington   
• John McKinnon, Executive Director, Asia New Zealand, former New Zealand Ambassador to China
• Tony Alexander, Chief Economist, BNZ
• Vallen Han, Asia Marketing Director, New Zealand Post

Yuhuang Zheng
Yuhuang Zheng is Associate Professor of Marketing at the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University, Chair Professor for the Marketing Case Analysis Executive Program, and teaches the Tsinghua-CEIBS-Harvard, Tsinghua-IFM-HEC, China CEO, and many other executive programmes. He also provides consulting and executive training services for many large corporations and institutions such as Bank of China, Beijing International Airport, BMW, and China Mobile.

Patrick Chovanec
Patrick Chovanec is Managing Director and Chief Strategist at New York-based Silvercrest Asset Management, which manages $13.5 billion in investments on behalf of wealthy families and selected institutions. His insights into the global economy have been featured by both Chinese and international media, he has worked for several private equity funds focused on China, and advised numerous investment funds, Fortune 500 corporations, and governments.
