Kiwi Firms Secure Multimillion Dollar Contract

Media Release: 17 July, 2013

Kiwi Firms Secure Multimillion Dollar Contract With Leading Pizza Company

Two local building companies have secured a part of a $2 million contract to refurbish a leading pizza company’s stores nationwide.

Auckland’s Annan Interiors and Dimension Shopfitters will help to renovate Domino’s Pizza’s 25 New Zealand stores over the next few years.

The General Manager of Annan Interiors in East Tamaki, ..., says the multimillion dollar contract is a welcome opportunity given the current landscape of the building industry.

“The building sector has had a tough time since the recession over the past few years and so this is a great boost,” he says. “We are thrilled to be a part of Domino’s evolving image refurbishment.”

The General Manager of Domino’s Pizza NZ, Josh Kilimnik, says it is fantastic to see the new fit-outs not only supporting locals by giving them a better quality store to visit, but also supporting local businesses by providing more jobs.

“We’re happy to provide Auckland’s local building community with the opportunity to be involved in our refurbishment programme. It’s great to be able to create more work for them, and transform our store network,” he says.

Domino’s Pizza’s decision to renovate its Kiwi stores comes in response to customers’ calls for more transparency in their food preparation.

Kilimnik says the new initiative is an Australian directive which was first trialled in two stores in Australia in 2009.

“That was so successful that it’s being implemented in every Australasian store. The design concept has been called ‘Entice,’ and is designed to make more of a statement, while giving customers the increased interactivity they’re after,” he says.

“Every Domino’s will undergo a refurbishment upon reaching its seventh anniversary from when it opened for trade,” says Kilimnik.

In the past year, Domino’s Pizza has refurbished 23 of its 84 Australasian stores, including those from Dunedin to Whangarei in NZ.

By Christmas 2014, Domino’s Pizza aims to have refurbished 60 stores in total.

“The new designs have already positively benefited all of our key stake holders, but none more so than our customers, who tell us they love the new look and feel of their local store,” says Kilimnik.

Domino’s Pizza’s new design includes a food preparation bench which is in view of the customer, and a dough room which is located closer to the front of the store where possible.

Kilimnik says this will reinforce the company’s commitment to serving its customers fresh pizzas.

“Each of our pizzas is made to order with fresh dough made on-site daily and fresh ingredients. It’s important to us that our customers can see how devoted we are to delivering them top-quality food,” he says.

The refurbishments also include a full signage makeover on both the exterior and interior of the stores with new Domino’s Pizza logo, along with new uniforms for staff.

Stores will receive a lowered portion of their counters; to cater to disabled people and children, a live TV monitor to track each customer’s order, and the addition of a local historic image at the turn of the last century, to personalise each store.

Additional features of the store refurbishments include new customer foyers, using a mix of materials from stone counter tops to timber panelling finishes on the walls and polished concrete floors.

The back of the stores are fully repainted, and in some cases new wall linings, floors and ceilings are installed.

Major equipment is fully serviced and replaced if necessary, and seating is added where possible.
