Bleeding to Leading
10th & 11th
September, Auckland
BYATA New Zealand, the Backpacker, Youth, Adventure Tourism Association, will be holding its annual conference in Auckland on September 10th and 11th at Auckland University of Technology.
This year’s theme is “Bleeding to Leading.” There are so many times in business where the words on everyone’s lips are technology and innovation, the tourism world is very much a double edged sword. These and many other topics will be discussed and debated during our two day conference.
We are pleased to announce, that we have confirmed the following speakers: Kevin Bowler, CEO of Tourism New Zealand; Martin Snedden, CEO of Tourism Industry Association; Professor Christopher Ryan - Tourism & Hospitality Management, Waikato University - China-NZ Tourism Research Group; Tony Laker, owner/operator House of Travel Laker in Invercargill; Dan Steal, owner/operator of Blue Duck Station; Norm Thompson, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Acting Chief Sales Officer of Air New Zealand; and Doug Tamaki, co-founder of Tamaki Tours. More exciting speakers lined up and will be announced over the coming week.
We will also have a panel of industry experts to debate questions from the audience, confirmed panelists include: Neil Geddes, industry pioneer and General Manager of G Adventures New Zealand and Australia; Nick Andreef, founder, Owner and CEO of Waitomo Adventures Ltd.; Dan Alpe, co-founder and Chief Jucifier of Jucy Group Ltd; and Sue Sullivan, GM Sales of Tourism Holdings Ltd.
The aim this year is to provide an insight to help you improve both your business and life skills. The speakers will bring you their own real world experiences for you to learn from. They will inspire you to think differently, try new things and challenge our traditional philosophies. They will also give us an insight into what the future may bring.
We will be holding BYATA’s Annual General Meeting during the conference, as well as hosting a ‘not to be missed’ industry party on Tuesday night!
Like most things in Backpacker, Youth and Adventure Tourism, this conference is sure to be filled with lots of excitement. For more details or to register please visit http://www.byata.org.nz/ or email info@byata.co.nz.. Early bird closes on 31 July 2013.
