Christchurch Airport now $39 away from Auckland

Christchurch Airport now $39 away from Auckland

Fancy flying to Auckland for a concert? Or a family birthday?

You can now fly there from Christchurch Airport for $39.

South Island travellers are celebrating the announcement of Air New Zealand extending its popular Night Rider service to Christchurch from early November.

From 7 November, every seat on the 9.30pm flights between Auckland and Christchurch in both directions (Thursday – Monday) will be just $39.

Christchurch Airport CEO Jim Boult says the new service gives Aucklanders and Cantabrians the chance to be at each other’s special events.

“The Night Rider fares add approximately another 13-and-a-half-thousand seats between Christchurch and Auckland,” he says.

“The new service will start for the summer season and is sure to be a hit. On top of new additional charter services, new destinations added to our network and added capacity, this is a very positive signal for Christchurch. It underlines the continued resurgence of travel in and out of Christchurch Airport for both domestic and international travel.

“In recent months, continued growth on some domestic sectors has broken both weekly and monthly traffic volume records, as the rebuild and accompanying economic stimulus gathers momentum.”
