Network Summary for week ending 22 September 2013
ELECTRICITY
There were eight car vs pole incidents last week – five of these occurred over the weekend in Rosedale, Stanley Bay, Massey, Warkworth and Clevedon. During the week, other incidents occurred in Otara, another at a busy intersection in Mt Wellington, and also in Parnell where a new pole was required. In Hillcrest, there was a car vs pillar incident which left the pillar severely damaged and requiring urgent repairs.
Our crews were called out to isolate power at an address in Ngapipi Road in Orakei to make it safe for Emergency Services as they investigated a damaged meter box.
Fire crews also requested isolation of electricity supply at three different fires in Massey, Whenuapai and Chatswood.
The early morning storm front passing over Auckland on Sunday brought trees and branches down on power lines which caused an outage in the Howick/Mellons Bay area.
GAS
Our contractors worked to repair a gas pipe after a smell of gas was reported in The Strand in Tauranga.
PROJECTS
Vector’s new Rosedale Zone Substation is starting to take shape with the screw piling operation complete. Challenging weather conditions last month meant crews were slowed down but the switch room basement excavation is now complete and the transformer bay foundations, including piling, is progressing well.
All the ducts in Rosedale Road are complete and are waiting to be populated by cabling. The building works are due for completion in January 2014.
