A Food Show double helping for Chch?
A Food Show double helping for Chch?
Here’s something unique and probably unrepeatable: when The Food Show Christchurch 2014 opens it will be the first time one city has hosted two Food Shows within six months.
How is this possible? Because the South Island’s biggest culinary exhibition has been brought forward from its September timeslot, leapfrogging the Wellington and Auckland shows to land in early April (from the 4th to the 6th, in fact) from 2014 onwards.
For Cantabrians and other South Island foodies, it will be a somewhat ‘Groundhog Day’ experience – but in a good way. A double helping of New Zealand’s biggest selection of yummy edibles, drinkables, and kitchen equipment…ables? What’s not to like?
For event organisers North Port Events the new timeslot make a lot more sense, according to CEO Dona White.
“April is just a more natural time of year for The Food Show Christchurch to occur,” she says.
“It makes a huge amount of sense for the Food Show bandwagon to get underway in the south, then head to the capital, and end up in Auckland, gaining momentum and thousands of visitors as it travels up the country.”
“It helps our exhibitors too because it just makes things easier from a logistical point of view. Plus they can try things out in the smaller shows and really get their act together for the final push at the biggest Food Show in Auckland.”
In other news, The Food Show Wellington 2014 cleverly coincides with that annual outpouring of familial affection, Mother’s Day, on 11 May 2014. So, Mothers of Wellington –start your campaign of emotional blackmail now to ensure your offspring take you to the show and treat you like a queen.
