KCE holds published electricity retail prices


Taumarunui, New Zealand - Electricity generator and retailer, King Country Energy (KCE), confirmed today it will not raise its published electricity retail prices this year.

KCE chose to forego a price rise for its published rates four (4) out of the past seven (7) years.

CEO, Rob Foster, said, “KCE continues to focus on being a low-cost provider and we’ve been able to maintain our costs at nearly equivalent levels to the past year. Therefore, the board saw no reason to raise our published electricity retail prices this year.”

Mr Foster said KCE is fully aware how electricity is often a big portion of families’ household budgets and keeping prices as low as possible is a priority for the company.

“It’s important to us to keep prices at competitive levels. Plus, we’re continually encouraging customers to sign up to direct debit or SmoothPay in order to always ensure they pay their invoices on time to get their ten percent prompt payment discount.

“Last financial year, we gave back $2.5 million in prompt payment discounts to around 15,000 of our customers. In addition to keeping prices down, this is another way we are helping customers keep their electricity expenditure as low as possible,” he explained.

KCE provides electricity retail services to the majority of the King Country region’s households and businesses. The company also provides retail electricity services to farming and commercial customers in select areas throughout Waikato, Waipa, Rotorua and Taupo.
