Ngapuhi Asset Holding Company Announces New Chairman
At the Te Runanga-a-iwi o Ngapuhi AGM on Saturday it was announced that Leigh Auton is to replace current Ngapuhi Asset Holding Company (NAHC) chairman Sir John Goulter, who is retiring from the board in December after chairing it for six years.
Mr Auton, who is Ngapuhi, has served on the NAHC board for the past five years. Previously he was chief executive of Manukau City Council. He operates his own consultancy and is a director of Auckland Council Property Ltd and chairs Recovery Solutions Trust and subsidiaries. Mr Auton was recently the interim chief executive of Tauranga City Council and served on the Government’s Kaipara District Council Review Team.
Te Runanga-a-iwi o Ngapuhi chairman Raniera (Sonny) Tau thanked Sir John for his sterling service and commitment to Ngapuhi during the company’s establishment phase and looked forward to his continued involvement in the North. “To this end, Sir John will be continuing as chairman of Northland Deepwater Ltd partnership, Ngapuhi’s deepwater fishing joint venture,” said Mr Tau.
Said Sir John Goulter: “Building the commercial company with a solid governance and financial platform for Ngapuhi has been both exciting and a challenge. Ensuring jobs in Northland for Ngapuhi has been at the centre of what we have strived to achieve and I am proud of what we have achieved.”
