Business Awards Sell-out

Business Awards Sell-out

This year’s Electra Business Awards Dinner has sold out four weeks ahead of the event.

Chair of Business Kapiti Horowhenua, Mark Ternent, says that while a full house had been expected, organisers were caught by surprise with the speed at which the tickets to this prestigious event sold.

On Friday 8 November a capacity 350 people will be seated at round tables in the Theatre auditorium, which Southward’s Events Coordinator, Amber Ferguson, describes as probably one of the greatest number ever accommodated that way.

This is 40 more than at last year’s business awards event, 55 more than in 2011 and 79 more than in 2010.   The all-time record attendance is believed to be 400 at Waikanae some years ago.

Again this year,  the annual gala event will have some unique features,; not all of which will be revealed in advance.    However, it is known that the theme will be electricity and the goddess Electra.

Electra is goddess of the sea storm clouds which gather around islands such as Kapiti and the summit of coastal mountain ranges such as are found in Horowhenua.

Award winning WOW designer, Jan Kerr, is preparing an outfit for the goddess Electra, which Electra CEO, John Yeoman says will reinforce the new branding that the company recently introduced to the region.   Organisers are tight lipped about whether or not there’ll be a god present as well.

Event organiser, Kirsten Kilmister of Scopevents says Performing Arts dancers from Whitireia Polytechnic will open the show and the parade of finalists proved so popular last year that it’ll be back, but in a different format.

The Electra Business Awards dinner is regarded as an annual social highlight.   This time the catering is being provided by Wellington’s Seasoned and Dressed with assistance from Jeanine van Kradenburg of Waikanae’s Party Perfect.
