Toyworld releases list of hottest toys for Christmas 2013

It’s only a few weeks until Santa arrives and to help parents with gift ideas, Toyworld has put together its Annual Top 10 Hot Toys for Christmas List for 2013.

New Zealand’s toy experts, Toyworld, is the largest specialist toy retailer in the country and compiles the annual list of favourite toys for the holiday season from global trends.

Repeka Haurua is a Toy Buyer for Toyworld and travels around the world sourcing and buying toys for New Zealand kids. She says one of the major trends for 2013 is that ‘everything old is new again with nostalgic characters and brands re-emerging.

“These ‘old new’ toys play on the minds of the parents and grandparents bringing back fond memories of their own childhood and Cabbage Patch Dolls are the hot favourite to do just that this Christmas,” says Ms Haurua.

“Technology also continues to play a big part in the evolution of value-added toys. The LeapPad was a key item last year and this has evolved into ‘The LeapPad Ultra’ which features a new wireless component.

“There are also the toys that just perform every year like Lego which provides an array of price points and themes to suit all. The hottest line out there in the girls’ area is the Dolphin Cruiser. This is an absolute must for girls 7 – 12 years,” she says.

Toyworld has also seen licensed products continuing to grow in popularity with Disney Infinity producing the surprise factor to its annual toy list.
