New committee structure for Waikato District Council
Waikato District Council has moved to streamline its decision making with the establishment of three key committees - Policy and Regulatory, Strategy and Finance and Infrastructure - with membership of all made up of the Mayor and all Councillors.
Mayor Allan Sanson and his 13 Councillors, including newly elected Councillors Jacqui Church, Rosemarie Costar and Janet Gibb, were sworn in yesterday (29 October) for their three year term. They immediately got down to business, with the following appointments agreed by the Council:

Commenting, Mayor Sanson said: “I am delighted with the team which has been elected by our district’s residents and with them look forward to the next three years. As a district we have enormous potential, and I look forward to how we can realise that and make this district the very best in the country in which to live, work and play.”
To assist both new and returning elected members to get up to speed with issues across the district a full induction programme is being run, including three full day visits in and around Tuakau (22 October), Tamahere (30 October) and Raglan (12 November).
