Asia Pacific,
November 6 2013 – This year’s prestigious Forbes
Asia Fab 50 listing shows an increase in the number of top
Asian companies using Polycom voice and video collaboration
solutions for more effective collaboration. As the global
leader in open, standards-based unified communications and
collaboration (UC&C), Polycom now counts 74 per cent of the
companies listed amongst its customers; an increase from 70
per cent of Forbes’ 2012 list.
Published in August, The Asia Fab 50 now in its ninth year is created by Forbes through analysis of a pool of 1,220 companies with at least $3 billion in revenue or market capitalisation. This year’s list features 50 companies based in 11 Asia Pacific countries, and of these 37 are Polycom customers. This figure has increased from last year’s list that featured 35 Polycom customers. The rise also reflects the recent analysis presented by Wainhouse Research and Polycom that shows the use of video conferencing as an enterprise productivity tool is growing, with 94 per cent of video users saying that video collaboration increases productivity.
Twenty-two new companies made it onto this year’s Forbes list and of the total 50 named, a regional spread of businesses are represented. Chinese companies dominate the overall list with 20 whilst 11 Indian companies are included. The other countries featured are Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
A diverse combination of industries is represented by the companies listed reflecting that the uptake of video as a tool for collaboration transcends the business spectrum. Video is used to support day-to-day business functions such as staff, partner and customer meetings, training and recruitment, as well as a wide range of applications specific to company sectors and industries.
One Polycom customer featured in the Forbes Asia Fab 50 list this year is leading India-based global pharmaceutical company, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories. The company recently deployed several video-based solutions to improve its business processes. This includes enabling executives and employees across two major corporate offices in Hyderabad, India, and Bridgewater, New Jersey, USA to collaborate face-to-face via secure, high-definition video.
Atanu Roy, Chief Technical Officer at Dr. Reddy’s said: “Our company’s global demand for instant communication across distances, particularly between R&D teams to make decisions quickly, meant that we required more effective and efficient ways to collaborate. With Polycom video, we are getting the most comprehensive UC infrastructure that meets our needs to deliver wide-scale communications across the company, enabling our research and technical teams to meet across any distance and collaborate securely and instantly for vital consultation and decision-making.”
