Paymark announces appointment of new CEO

Paymark announces appointment of new CEO

Leading payments provider Paymark is today delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Rushworth to the role of CEO.

Mark brings a wealth of experience to the business after holding a number of chief executive and board level roles with iconic New Zealand firms. Most recently Mark held the role of CEO at Pacific Fibre where he was a co-founder. Prior to this he was Chief Marketing Officer at Vodafone New Zealand following their acquisition of ihug where he was CEO.

Paymark Board chairman Sue Sheldon says the company is on the cusp of some exciting new opportunities and Mark’s appointment is an important one for the business.

“In appointing Mark Rushworth the Board recognises the unique position of Paymark as a provider of essential New Zealand infrastructure with an exciting future. Mark brings a track record, strategic capability and a technology focus to the role,” says Sheldon.

Paymark, which processes around three quarters of all electronic transactions in New Zealand, is jointly owned by the four major trading banks and has led payment innovation and infrastructure for over 20 years.

Mark says he’s looking forward to the opportunity to lead a company that plays such an integral role in delivering key payments services to banks, merchants and consumers.

“I’m excited about building on Paymark’s strong foundations and taking advantage of new opportunities, like online and mobile payments, to deliver new services to more New Zealanders,” says Rushworth.

The appointment is effective as of 2 December 2013.
