Jetstar’s on-time performance continues flying high

• Jetstar records highest domestic on-time performance in five of the six months ended September*

• Strong result for October on-time reliability

• Monthly domestic on-time performance continues to improve in 2013 over previous year

Jetstar achieved New Zealand’s best domestic airline on-time performance at 10-minute departures* for five of the six months ending September 2013.

Figures for the country’s two major domestic carriers show that Jetstar recorded the highest on-time departure performance in April, May, July, August and September this year.

Grant Kerr, Jetstar Head of New Zealand, said the airline also recorded a strong result in October.

“Despite high wind conditions that affected operations on several days last month, 84.9 percent of our domestic flights departed within 10 minutes of scheduled departure time and 88.7 percent within 15 minutes,” said Mr Kerr.

For the ten months ending October Jetstar’s average monthly 10-minute domestic on-time performance jumped to 83 percent compared with 73 percent for the same period in 2012.

“That is a significant increase compared with last year and illustrates Jetstar’s commitment to New Zealanders to improve on-time reliability,” said Mr Kerr. “Jetstar is the low fares leader in New Zealand and we’re matching that with consistent leadership in on-time performance as well.

Jetstar regularly publishes its domestic 15-minute departure OTP on its website and last month also began reporting 10-minute results.

“Providing a like-for-like comparison with our local competitor offers greater transparency for customers,” Mr Kerr said.

The airline said departing and arriving on time was a key priority for customers and it would continue to focus on achieving consistently high on-time reliability.
