Focus on innovation sees ASB named Bank of the Year in global awards
ASB has been named the 2013 New Zealand Bank of the Year by leading London-based magazine The Banker. The win was announced at the International Bank of the Year awards held in London over the weekend.
The prestigious awards recognise the best banks in countries around the world based on their performance over the past year.
“The Bank of the Year award goes to the bank that demonstrates it is striving to improve and break new ground,” says Jane Cooper, Asia Editor of the Banker. “The judges were impressed by ASB's entry and were glad to give ASB the award for Bank of the Year in New Zealand because of its ability to adapt and diversify its business as well as introduce new products.”
“We are honoured to be named as New Zealand Bank of the Year by The Banker, an award acknowledged internationally as setting the standard for banking excellence,” says ASB Chief Executive Barbara Chapman. “In the competitive environment of the last twelve months, it is testament to the passion and commitment of all ASB people that we have been recognised by a global panel of banking experts as New Zealand’s best.”
“Innovation has been a key focus of our business for many years and our success in leading the market with innovative products and services to make banking easier for our customers was highlighted by the judges. The past year has seen ASB launch a number of successful initiatives including Facebook-based ‘Like Loan’, the first-to-market Rural Environmental Compliance Loan and a number of key enhancements to our award winning ASB Mobile Banking app.”
ASB was awarded New Zealand Bank of the Year in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2011.
