Air New Zealand expands mobile and
online technology
Air New Zealand customers travelling
on the airline’s services, both domestic and
international, can now check in using their smartphones,
tablets and online.
The Air NZ mobile app, for iPhone and Android users, will considerably speed up the check-in process by allowing customers to:
· Check in from anywhere from 24 hours before departure
· Check in on smartphones up until 90 minutes prior to an international flight and 30 minutes before a domestic service
Air New Zealand customers can also look forward to being able to check in online for international and domestic flights, including choosing seats and printing boarding passes.
Air New Zealand General Manager Customer Experience Calum Laming says online check-in and the new mobile app highlight the airline’s commitment to constantly seek ways to further enhance and simplify customers’ travel.
“Both the Air NZ mobile app and online check-in offer customers a new level of convenience, saving them valuable time allowing them to check in remotely and to print their boarding pass from home. Customers can also use their smartphone as their boarding pass with the app recognised by Air New Zealand kiosks.”
The new mobile app enriches the travel experience with customers able to receive up-to-date flight information, as well as details about the airports they are flying into and out of. The app also enables customers to view their personal travel details along with traffic and weather forecasts.
Air New Zealand Chief Information Officer Julia Raue says the airline’s customers have long been fans of the Air New Zealand mobile app mPass and the new version, which is a complete rebuild across the entire platform, further enhances the airline’s mobile offering with new features to be added regularly.
“We have thought long and hard as to what would improve our mobile app and make our customers’ travel more seamless regardless of where they are flying. I believe the new Air NZ mobile app will do just that offering them both what they want and need in an easy to navigate application.”
Air New Zealand customers passing through Auckland International Airport will also experience a faster check-in experience, with an overhaul of the check-in area including 55 new self-check kiosks and 12 bag drops available for the airline’s international customers.
