Media Release: Union says Airport company needs to urgently meet with taxi drivers

FIRST Union General Secretary Robert Reid says that the Auckland Airport company had contacted him to meet about the concerns of the Auckland Taxi Association drivers.

Robert Reid says he will be informing the company that although he is prepared to meet with them, it will only be as a support person for the drivers themselves.

“It was suggested that the meeting will take place next Monday,” said Reid. “However given the way things have escalated the company needs to meet with the drivers’ representatives urgently to find a way through this mess.”

“While the union will help facilitate discussions, a meeting between the Airport and the union must not take place without the full participation of ATA and their representatives.”

Ends.
