Aussies Wake Up to Sunrise at Novotel Queenstown Lakeside

4 June 2014: Queenstown is set to be beamed into over a million Australian homes as Australia’s number one TV breakfast program Sunrise is set to descend on Novotel Queenstown Lakeside to film winter wonders around town.

Perfectly timed with the recent snowfalls, Sunrise will broadcast live from Queenstown over two days on 19-20 June, in the first time the show has ever filmed in New Zealand.

To celebrate Sunrise’s visit to Queenstown, Novotel Queenstown Lakeside is offering a special accommodation package which includes a free Shotover Jet Boat ride for two people when staying minimum 3 nights. Sunrise viewers will also be treated to an exclusive welcome function at Novotel Queenstown Lakeside and trivia dinner with Sunrise hosts David Koch, Samantha Armytage, Mark Beretta, Natalie Barr and Edwina Bartholomew.

Viewers will also visit the remote Skippers Canyon, enjoy a signature lunch at Amisfield Winery & Bistro overlooking Lake Hayes and sip cocktails surrounded by over 18 tonnes of ice architecture at Minus 5 ICEBAR.

The filming will include live weather crosses from the South Island’s magical winter locations including Mt Hutt, Tekapo, Mackenzie, Remarkables and Wanaka every day from Monday 16 June in the lead up to live action from Coronet Peak on Thursday 19 June with the Sunrise Cash Cow.

The partnership between Tourism New Zealand, Accor and the Network Seven was secured through Tourism New Zealand Australia and follows the launch of Tourism New Zealand’s latest ‘More magic in every day’ winter advertising campaign designed to encourage Australians to discover more winter magic adventures with friends in New Zealand.

The live filming will coincide with the 40th anniversary of the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival set to take place in Queenstown 20-29 June.
