AMI takes a fresh approach to its stores and customers
Insurance is set to get interesting
AMI is launching a market-first approach to insurance store design, offering customers a completely new experience with the official opening of its “pilot” store tomorrow, Thursday 17 July.
Kevin Hughes, General Manager Customer Delivery at AMI, says he is excited to be launching this first-of-its-kind insurance experience in New Zealand.
“Dealing with insurance can often be confusing and a difficult experience for customers. We wanted to create a totally unique space where people can experience insurance in a new and exciting way, and this is shown with our approach in AMI Takanini,” says Hughes.
Every component of the new store has been designed to stretch the thinking on how AMI can support customers, as it seeks to break the old insurance mould. The new design includes a “journey wall”, which takes customers through various life events, showcasing the many different ways insurance plays a part in their day-to-day lives.
“There are always interesting conversations being had with our team of insurance experts, and we want customers to feel comfortable and confident discussing anything in our new environment,” says Hughes. “We know, for example, that one in five smartphones are damaged due to being dropped in water and one in twenty involves the toilet!”
Hughes explains that AMI’s longer-term plan with this move is to modernise its entire insurance offering, making it more friendly, approachable and interesting. AMI is in the process of removing the old pamphlets, replacing them with activity walls and then also iPads, from which customers can understand the features and benefits of any service – meaning they will get exactly what they want and need – and only that.
“We believe insurance is more than buying cover or making a claim. We are here to help people protect their lifestyles and, to do this, we’re moving towards an experience that enables us to more easily communicate with our customers,” adds Hughes.
The address of the new AMI Takanini branch is: 30 Walters Road, Takanini. For more information about AMI visit: www.ami.co.nz
