More expansion for fast growing car company
One of the country’s fastest growing companies is set for further expansion with four new branches across the country in three months.
2 Cheap Cars has only been in business for 3 years but is already New Zealand’s biggest used car retailer and about three times larger than its nearest competitor. The company was recently a winner in the Deloitte’s Fast 50 business awards.
The company this month opened up a new branch in Auckland’s Botany Road in Manukau and at the beginning of November will open a Penrose branch. Leases are also being finalised for sites in Lower Hutt and Dunedin to be opened before Christmas.
Company General Manager, Garry Moore, says the expansion will see 2 Cheap Cars sales jump from about 500 to 800 cars a month.
“We’ve been able to expand quickly because we have a business model that is extremely customer focused. We are a high volume small margin business that means we are extremely competitive when it comes to price. Obviously this only works if you can underpin it with quality products and service.”
By the end of the year 2 Cheap Cars will have a total of nine branches in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.
“We are conscious that there have been some very poor operators in the car importing business in recent years. But in many ways by doing a good job this has given us the opportunity to establish a large and very satisfied customer base in a short period of time,” says Garry Moore.
Earlier this month 2 Cheap Cars was named the winner of the fastest growing retail or consumer products business in the top half of the North Island in the Deloitte Fast 50 Awards for New Zealand’s fastest growing companies.
Mr Moore says company philosophy is to price cars at a level that is below what it would cost for someone to import a car themselves.
