Meredith Connell to Again Seek Auckland Crown Warrant

Auckland law firm Meredith Connell has welcomed a decision by Attorney-General Hon. Christopher Finlayson QC that there shall be two Crown Solicitors for the Auckland region.

Brian Dickey, the firm’s Director of Litigation, said Meredith Connell had held the Auckland Crown Solicitor’s warrant since 1922 and saw it as New Zealand’s most established Public-Private Partnership (PPP).

He said Meredith Connell would be tendering for the Auckland warrant. A decision would be made in the near future whether or not to tender for the Manukau warrant.

“Crown prosecution remains an important part of Meredith Connell and still represents 30% of our total business, even as we continue to expand our commercial practice.”

Mr Dickey said Meredith Connell was achieving exceptional growth and generational change.

“We have recently appointed nine new partners with outstanding academic backgrounds and unrivalled experience across every aspect of the law, to replace three senior partners who have moved on this year. With an average age of 36, the new partners represent the future of our firm and the New Zealand legal profession.”

Mr Dickey said that if Meredith Connell decided to tender for the Manukau warrant, it would need to accelerate its expansion plans and open an office in Manukau City.
