Google Play apps now available on your 2degrees bill

Google Play apps, games, music and eBooks now available on your 2degrees bill

2degrees is partnering with Google to enable Android customers to pay for apps, movies, music and books via their 2degrees’ mobile account – making it the first NZ mobile network to allow customers to easily purchase Google Play content on their mobile account.

The content partnership marks an important step change in allowing people to access and pay for Google content on their phones in a way that’s faster and simpler.

2degrees Chief Marketing Officer Malcolm Phillipps says the partnership is another way 2degrees is making life easier for its customers.

“Smartphone growth has created an incredible consumer appetite for content and we want to make access to that as simple as possible. By allowing customers to pay for content via their mobile accounts there’s added security and less hassle when it comes to getting what they want,” he says.

Mr Phillipps adds that not only is it a safe and convenient way to pay, it also provides customers with full control over their spend, with set daily limits on Google Play purchases backed-up by the 2degrees Spend Control service.

Customers using Google Play can choose from thousands of games, loads of movies, the world's largest eBookstore and over 25 million songs to keep them entertained. Now they’ll be able to buy that game of Minecraft or download the latest Hunger Games flick without having to use a credit card. Each purchase will be itemised on their Pay Monthly bill or deducted from their Prepay balance.

To celebrate the launch, Google and 2degrees will be offering its Prepay and Pay Monthly Android customers 90 days free access to Google Play Music’s streaming service. Google Play Music gives you unlimited, ad-free access to millions of songs, and lets you mix them with your own collection, so you can listen to them all on the go.
