Fonterra Farmer Shareholders Reminded to Vote in Elections
Three days of voting remain in Fonterra’s 2014 Elections and the Co-operative’s Farmer Shareholders are being encouraged to have their say on who is best placed to govern and represent their interests.
Shareholders are voting to elect three Directors to the Fonterra Board, and Shareholders in wards 2 (Central Northland), 7 (Piako), 14 (Eastern Bay of Plenty) and 22 (Northern Manawatu) will also be voting for their chosen Shareholders’ Councillors.
Returning Officer, Warwick Lampp says approximately 20% of votes have been cast so far and called for Farmers to bring forward their voting timetable and not wait for the last minute.
“It’s important that Farmers take this opportunity to exercise their right to vote as soon as possible. At this stage, Farmer Shareholders should use internet voting to ensure their votes are received before the deadline.
“Voting papers sent via NZ Post are now unlikely to arrive in time, and therefore won’t be counted. Online voting is quick and easy and is now maximised for smartphones and tablets.
“This year we have again filmed the Director candidates’ presentations at the Director Candidate Roadshow, along with their filmed response to three questions posed by the Shareholders’ Council. These can be viewed on Farm Source and aim to provide those Shareholders who were unable to attend the Roadshow with another tool to make a decision on their preferred candidates.”
Voting closes at 10.30am on Monday, 10 November 2014. Any Shareholder who has lost or not received their Voting Pack should contact the Returning Officer immediately for a replacement on the Election Hotline free phone 0508 666 446.
The election results will be announced on the afternoon of Monday, 10 November 2014. All successful candidates will take office at the close of the Annual Meeting.
Farmer Shareholders are also reminded that they can still appoint a proxy, or vote online or by fax in respect of the Annual Meeting resolutions up until 10.30am on Monday, 10 November.
Shareholders can also attend and vote in person for the Annual Meeting resolutions at the Annual Meeting on Wednesday, 12 November 2014 at the Fonterra Research and Development Centre in Palmerston North.
Any queries regarding the Fonterra Elections should be directed to the Election Hotline on free phone 0508 666 446.
