New manager for Hillary Outdoors’ Great Barrier Centre
Hillary Outdoors has appointed a new manager for its Great Barrier Island Centre.
Gemma Parkin joins Hillary Outdoors after 11 years with Christchurch-based training organisation Horizons Unlimited, most recently as Adventure Education Manager.
Hillary Outdoors CEO Graham Seatter says Parkin’s experience and skillset made her a standout applicant from the start. “Gemma is a dedicated team leader, with a true passion for outdoor education and experiential learning,” says Seatter. “She’s a fantastic complement to our already strong Great Barrier team.”
Parkin will take over management of the outdoors education and training facility from 12 January 2015and is looking forward to exploring the remote island.
“Great Barrier Island has to be one of the most spectacular ‘offices’ in the world,” says Parkin. “It’s a challenging environment and a very special place to inspire young people to discover their own potential.
“I can’t wait to get stuck in.”
