Customs brokers welcome Trade Single
Window development
The Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Federation of New Zealand (CBAFF) has welcomed the announcement of measures that will help streamline processes for the industry.
Customs Minister Nick Wagner has announced that from early next year traders will be able to register directly with the Joint Border Management System (JBMS) and manage their own information online in real time.
The Trade Single Window component of JBMS will allow them to submit shipment details electronically to a single point of contact, reducing the time taken for the process from 24-hours to just a few minutes.
CBAFF Chief Executive Rosemarie Dawson said: “Self-service registration is a real step forward and will streamline processes for members of our industry.
“We value our close working relationship with New Zealand Customs Service, who have kept us updated with progress on this development, and welcome the successful implementation of the Trade Single Window.”
