Anake Goodall appointed Executive Chair

MEDIA STATEMENT

16 DECEMBER 2014

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Anake Goodall appointed Executive Chair of the Ākina Foundation

Anake Goodall has been appointed Executive Chair of the Ākina Foundation, and will begin his role on 1 January 2015.

He takes on the role following the retirement of Rod Oram, who has been Chair since August 2012.

Rod has been a trustee since the Foundation (previously known as Hikurangi) was originally set up in 2008 by the Tindall and Todd Foundations.

“It has been a great privilege to help grow, shape and refine the organisation since 2008”, says Rod Oram.

“We have drawn on the energy and commitment of many people during those years. Now that Ākina has a strong focus and has developed a clear role within the emerging social enterprise sector, it’s time for me to hand over to a new Chair who can help steer the organisation through its next stage of development.”

Anake Goodall, who has been on the Board since 2013, is keen to build on the momentum that the Foundation has created in recent years.

“Social enterprise and impact investment are creating new markets and mobilising new forms of entrepreneurship, innovation and capital throughout the world.”

“I look forward to working with my fellow trustees and the Ākina team to consolidate the considerable progress we have made so far, and to continue our contribution to New Zealand’s emerging social enterprise sector.”

“These are exciting times as we see civil society, the private and financial sectors, and government converging on - and actively investing in - the social enterprise space.”
