Tender for sale of Health Precinct property

Media Release – 19 December 2014

Tender for sale of Health Precinct property

Progress in the Health Precinct has taken a significant step forward as the Crown releases a Request for Tender for the purchase of the property at 36-44 Oxford St, says Christchurch Central Development Unit director Warwick Isaacs.

The property was purchased by the Crown as it is designated for the South Frame (which includes the Health Precinct) and the previous owners approached the Crown seeking to sell the property.

“Those wishing to purchase the site will need to outline how their proposed development will meet the intentions for the Health Precinct and suit the design guidelines for the area,” says Mr Isaacs.

“The goal of the Health Precinct is to create a world-class hub for health education, research and innovation and any future development will need to align with this vision.”

“The property is being taken to the market due to the strong interest in the site and the need to progress the precinct. All tenders received will be evaluated and the Crown will then negotiate with the preferred purchaser.”

The Request for Tender can be viewed at the Government Electronic Tenders Service website at www.gets.govt.nz. The opportunity to submit a tender closes on 16 February 2014.
