Holiday parks looking forward to peak season
Holiday
parks are gearing up for their busiest weeks of the year and
many are expecting to be busier than ever.
48% of holiday park owners are expecting demand in December/January to exceed last year’s levels, according to the Holiday Parks Business Confidence Monitor for November/December 2014. 34% expect no change, while only 11% are predicting a decrease in demand.
The Holiday Parks Business Confidence Monitor, developed and managed by Angus & Associates*, surveys the Holiday Accommodation Parks Association of New Zealand’s (HAPNZ) 300 members.
The Monitor results for November/December 2014 shows HAPNZ member confidence is at +78, indicating that 78% of respondents are currently more optimistic than pessimistic.
“Although this is a decrease of five points from the previous month it is equal to the 2013 high recorded at this time last year,” HAPNZ Chief Executive Fergus Brown says.
“We expect member confidence to rise again into summer with members indicating that demand for the coming month is relatively strong, driven by the ‘appeal of your region’ and the ‘appeal of holiday parks in general’.”
Confidence for the next 12 months is at +80.
Demand for November/December compared to the same month last year increased 4 points from October/November 2014. 52% of members surveyed thought demand had increased, 17% believed it had decreased and 29% saw no change.
“We’re looking forward to some great summer weather that will give visitors every opportunity to enjoy all the activities available, both on-site at our holiday parks, as well as in the surrounding region,” Mr Brown says. “We’re all set for another great summer of family fun but to be sure of securing a place, we recommend that holidaymakers make their bookings for January now. Check www.holidayparks.co.nz for availability or contact the parks direct.”
