Busy start to the year - Network summary for holiday period

Network summary for the holiday period 22 December 2014 to 4 January 2015

Electricity

A busy time for both emergency personnel and faults crews with eight car v pole incidents during the holiday period along with six building/house fires to contend with.

The weather looks settled for the week ahead with no summer storms on the horizon. If you’re not otherwise occupied at the beach, this could be a good opportunity to check the trees on your property and ensure they are clear of power lines. If you are trimming a tree, check first to ensure power lines don’t run through or near it. If the tree is within four metres of a network power line, call Treescape on 0800 187 337 to trim the tree safely – remember, the first trim of the tree is free.

Gas

Third party damage to our gas network happened in Onehunga, Birkenhead and Castor Bay. If you are thinking of undertaking work on your property during the summer break, please call 0508 B4U WORK (0508 248 967) to establish the location of gas or electricity cables (or 0508 B4U DIG if outside Auckland).

Shorts
