Ravenswood Village Development Making
Good Progress
Subdivision consent for stage 1 of the residential area is in place and construction of a dual-lane roundabout will commence soon at the intersection of State Highway 1 and the entrance to Ravenswood Village opposite Pegasus Boulevard. This will improve safety and provide better access onto the highway from the new Ravenswood development.
The project includes construction of a 17.5 metre radius roundabout, realigning three of the four approaches and a new entrance to Ravenswood’s retail and commercial centre. Work is expected to start in January and be completed in late May.
The speed through the intersection will be reduced to 70km/hour at the new roundabout and will remain 70km/hour through to Woodend. North from the roundabout, the speed will be 80km/hour through to Waikuku.
Ravenswood Developments Limited general manager Paul Croft says the roundabout is great news for the new master-planned community of Ravenswood Village.
“The roundabout will not only improve access to SH1 for Ravenswood residents, but also make it easier for travellers and local residents in the region to access a new retail and commercial centre including a supermarket and petrol station from State Highway 1,” says Paul Croft.
“With subdivision consent for Stage 1 of the residential area now also in place, the local community can expect to see progress on many of the other key aspects of Ravenswood.”
“The response from the market has so far been fantastic, with first home buyers in particular appreciating the start-to-finish support offered by the Ravenswood team in working through the home-buying process and the $1,000 deposit opportunity.”
“The Canterbury building industry has also got behind Ravenswood, with many of Canterbury’s leading building companies committing to be part of a new show home village in Ravenswood featuring 22 new homes.”
“We are offering some of Canterbury’s best prices for sections and house and land packages and are focused on creating a real community with recreational amenities including heated community swimming pool, children’s pool, gym, community lounge, children’s play areas and parks, riverside walks and barbeque areas,” says Paul Croft.
“These elements of the new village are not just designed as leisure attractions. They are a vital part of creating a community. We’ve found in the past that wherever we’ve put amenities like this in place, people come to them to share in a sense of neighbourhood. They get to know their fellow residents and their families, they share activities, and they tend to take responsibility for keeping an eye on each other.”
“We will also be providing many of the elements the wider community has needed for some time, like a local supermarket and a wider choice of shopping and hospitality options.”
“To create a total village, we’ve looked at the ideal combination of retail offerings and services, with over 70 different providers – from a major supermarket and large format hardware, restaurants, cafes and bars, to community-focused services like an integrated healthcare centre, a retirement village and pre-schools.”
The village’s commercial centre, which will be established adjacent to the State Highway 1 entrance, will serve a local population of over 12,000 people.
“We’ve already had strong interest from potential anchor tenants and are getting plenty of inquiry from the commercial sector, due to the strong positioning and large catchment of Ravenswood.”
“We are really looking forward to adding much more to the local region – including more opportunities for local businesses to develop and for local people to work closer to home.
“We are putting everything in place to establish New Zealand’s best little village. With the roundabout about to be constructed and subdivision consent now in place for Stage 1, we are on the way to making that a reality for our new residents.”
“It’s an exciting time, with a number of new announcements and project milestones coming soon.”
