NZ Online Retail Sales: Monthly update for December + Focus topic on Christmas patterns


Please find attached BNZ and Marketview’s latest monthly report on New Zealand’s Online Retail Sales.

HIGHLIGHTS
• The strength in New Zealand’s online spending continued in December, with total online retail spending up 12% on December 2013.

• Online spending at domestic merchants in December was up 7% compared to December 2013 and online spending at overseas sites was up 19%.

• Spending in several categories was up by more than 20% on December 2013 levels, with food and entertainment goods performing strongly.

• The intra-month spending pattern changed slightly, particularly for online spending in the 3 days prior to Christmas Day.
