MEDIA RELEASE FEBRUARY 2015
Speight’s Wins Silver at International Brewing Awards
Speight’s is incredibly proud to announce that its Triple Hop Pilsner has taken out a silver medal at this week’s prestigious International Brewing Awards 2015, the only Australasian beer to win an award. This medal continues an unprecedented run of international awards success, including a gold medal at the 2013 International Brewing Awards (IBA), silver at the 2013 Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA), silver at the 2014 World Beer Cup (WBC), and bronze at the 2014 Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA). This latest win also gives Speight’s Triple Hop Pilsner the unique position of being the only beer in the world to have won medals at both the 2013 and 2015 IBA, and the 2014 World Beer Cup!
Ben Wheeler of Speight’s says: “The international recognition that Speight’s Triple Hop Pilsner has achieved since its launch in late 2012 has been quite phenomenal. To win a silver medal at the International Brewing Awards is massive, especially given the calibre of international breweries also awarded. We couldn’t be prouder of our brewers, and the awards their great beer keeps winning.”
Bob King, Chairman of the Brewers’ Guild of New Zealand says: “It is great to see the quality of New Zealand beers continuing to be recognised internationally. This success on the international stage is recognition of New Zealand’s vibrant and diverse beer sector and the quality that brewers big and small are achieving. We look forward to seeing more of our brewers performing well and being recognised through international awards in the future.”
