Leading global logistics company expands at Auckland Airport

Leading global logistics company expands at Auckland Airport

DHL Express, one of the world’s leading international express services providers, is set to double the size of its existing facility at Auckland Airport.

The expansion, which is due to be completed in December 2015, will see DHL’s warehouse and office facility increase from 2,500sqm to 5,000sqm.

DHL Express New Zealand Country Manager, Tim Baxter, says, “We are delighted to be undergoing this expansion, which will see our warehouse almost double in size, our shipments processed twice as fast and up to 20 new jobs being created.”

“DHL Express has worked closely with Auckland Airport on the upgrade of our Auckland gateway facility, which has been driven by unprecedented customer demand.”

Mark Thomson, Auckland Airport’s general manager property, says the decision by DHL Express to expand its facility reinforces the benefits of partnering with Auckland Airport.

“This latest development is significant because it entails the expansion of a facility which has direct access to the airfield apron enabling extremely efficient cargo transfer.”

“Auckland Airport has enjoyed a long association with DHL Group and we are thrilled to be able to support its continued growth,” says Mr Thomson.

DHL’s Supply Chain division has also recently moved into a purpose built 12,000sqm warehouse at The Landing at Auckland Airport and has a further 10,000sqm of existing facilities located within the Airport’s Business District.
