Kiwis offered faster way to fly with range of products

Westpac Welcomes Aboard Airpoints™

Kiwis offered faster way to fly with range of products

Westpac this week announced it has signed a 10 year agreement as an Air New Zealand Airpoints™ programme partner, and has launched a suite of cards that it says will offer Kiwis a faster way to earn Airpoints Dollars™.

From 1 May Westpac replaces BNZ as an Airpoints™ partner, whose GlobalPlus credit cards and mortgage product will, from midnight 30 April, no longer earn Airpoints™ Dollars, Status Points or other related Airpoints™ benefits.

Westpac Chief Product Officer, Shane Howell, said the Airpoints™ programme has grown significantly in recent times and has a loyal and avid following.

“We know how much Kiwis love to travel and love to earn Airpoints™. So we have launched a range of products and some great introductory offers that provides some faster ways to earn, enabling them to fly more often,” he said.

Westpac will have the widest offering in the market with cards able to be ordered immediately, earning Airpoints™ from 1 May 2015. For the three months until 31 July, new customers will earn triple Airpoints and for a limited time all cards, except the Airpoints™ World MasterCard, will have the first year’s annual fee waived. Also available is a 0%pa balance transfer for all cardholders.

“We are also making it as easy as possible to join our programme and most people will be able to apply for and later PIN their cards with a handful of clicks online,” Mr Howell said.

The bank will also offer an Airpoints™ earning mortgage with further products to be announced during the year.

“Combined with these new features, we have a compelling case for those New Zealanders who need to take out a new credit card to continue to earn Airpoints™ Dollars on their credit card spend. We’re making it easy to join and are committed to helping keep Kiwis flying and earning Airpoints™ as quickly as possible,” he said.

Features of the new Westpac credit cards include better earn rates across their product range, the ability to earn Status Points, travel insurance on the Platinum, World and Business Mastercards, with new products to be launched in the coming months.

There are more than 1.8 million Airpoints™ members internationally, with over 700,000 flights taken last year by members using their Airpoints™.
