Harcourts Foundation achieves $3 Million milestone
Harcourts Foundation achieves three million dollar milestone
Friday, 27 March, 2015
The charitable arm of Harcourts real estate group, The Harcourts Foundation has surpassed $3 million in funds raised to support local non-profit community groups.
The Harcourts Foundation was established by Harcourts in 2008. It is a 100% charity with all funds raised going directly to non-profit organisations.
The Foundation is funded through Harcourts employees' salary sacrifice, 'off the top' contributions from commissions and organised fundraisers.
There are currently more than 264 of Harcourts global offices participating in the Harcourts Foundation programme, donating a percentage of every property sale.
Harcourts CEO Hayden Duncan says that in just a short time the Harcourts Foundation has touched the lives of thousands of people throughout New Zealand.
“In New Zealand, the Harcourts Foundation has made more than 100 grants to community groups, helping with everything from supporting programmes for at-risk youth, technology for schools and equipment to help make communities safer,” says Duncan.
“Our local Harcourts businesses are wholly committed to making a positive difference to the communities where they operate and we're incredibly proud of the work the Harcourts Foundation is doing.”
Harcourts employees including a National Board of Directors, Coordinator, Accountant and Regional Ambassadors all donate their time and expertise to oversee and administer the Harcourts Foundation.
Last year, the Harcourts Foundation established a relationship with Halberg Disability Sport Foundation (Halberg).
In the first six months of the partnership, the support from Harcourts Foundation enabled Halberg to distribute 125 Activity Fund grants throughout the country. The funds go towards the costs of adaptive equipment, lessons or camps for physically disabled young New Zealanders, and to services offered by Disability Sport Advisers.
The $3 million milestone for funds raised by the Harcourts Foundation was reached in February 2015.
“Achieving three million dollars in funds raised is a significant milestone for the Harcourts Foundation,” says Duncan.
“However, this is just the start for us. Our ambition is to continue to grow the Harcourts Foundation so that we can make a positive difference to the lives of many more New Zealanders in years to come.”
