MYOB opens a second office in Christchurch
Australia and New Zealand’s leading accounting software solutions provider MYOB continues to invest in the local market, opening its second Christchurch office this week.
The new office in Sir William Pickering Drive, Burnside, will accommodate 50 staff in the new 570sq metre office. A further 120 MYOB staff are based just down the road within the Sir William Pickering Innovation Park.
The opening of a second MYOB office in Christchurch follows the merger of MYOB with Christchurch-based payroll provider PayGlobal in September last year.
MYOB New Zealand General Manager James Scollay says the new MYOB office is designed to fit with the company’s fun, friendly and dynamic culture.
“We believe our offices should be a place where people come to do their best work and are able to have fun in an open, friendly environment, designed for easy collaboration. Our workplaces are non-conventional and aligned to our culture of agile methodology, which is also the basis of our product development,” Mr Scollay says.
The spacious office was designed by Suzanne Miller, of Yellow6, one of New Zealand’s leading designers specialising in creating innovative and contemporary environments. “Suzanne has been designing for MYOB for the past five years and has a very good understanding of contemporary office designs which she blends with our culture,” says Mr Scollay.
“The design features an open-floor plan and provides a variety of formal and informal workspaces where people can work however they want to. Whether it’s at a stand-up desk, or in a private area, there are a variety of bright and colourful spaces where people can meet and work. The office also has a breakout area with a TV, pool table and PlayStation, where staff can relax and wind down.”
Mr Scollay says staff were involved in the design process. “We ask our teams what’s important in a workplace first, and we do our best to incorporate their ideas into the design.”
The office is another example of MYOB’s commitment to the New Zealand market. MYOB employs more than 1100 staff located primarily in Christchurch, Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney. In the past three years MYOB has invested over AU$100 million in research and development.
