Harcourts makes massive investment in new jobs

Harcourts makes massive investment in new jobs

Harcourts, New Zealand’s largest real estate group, is investing heavily in the creation of new jobs with the launch of its fifth and largest ever intake into the New Zealand Real Estate Scholarship Programme™, powered by Harcourts.

The programme is part of Harcourts’ drive to open up opportunities for people wanting to make the move into a real estate career, but it offers much more than just a chance to retrain.

Not only do the selected Harcourts scholars earn a good base salary, there are also bonus structures in place so they can boost that salary, based on commissions earned while they are still being trained. It means the scholars can study in a financially secure environment with no restrictions on how much they earn while they learn.

This year more than 81 Harcourts locations nationwide are offering the programme to people who have never sold real estate before and are wanting to make the jump. That’s a more than four-fold increase on last year’s scholarship intake.

Recipients receive fully subsidised training enabling them to earn their national certificate and licence in real estate. They are also mentored closely by the best in the business and are provided with all the marketing materials and support they need to start their real estate career.

It also allows recipients the opportunity to work for a global organisation renowned for excellence. Harcourts New Zealand was recently announced as having four of the top five Harcourts offices in the world, seven of the world’s top 10 sales consultants, and the world’s top five Harcourts franchises.

The programme is an initiative of Harcourts CEO Hayden Duncan, who says the programme enables people from a variety of backgrounds and careers to pursue their dream into a real estate career.

“This is a huge investment into job creation and our economy. Those selected for the scholarship are people who have the commitment and skill to really advance in our industry.

“We give them the best tools and professional support available. That means those people don’t just finish with a piece of paper that says they can sell real estate. They come out of the programme having been totally immersed in all aspects of the industry at a professional level.

“And the system is working. Many of our previous scholars from the previous four years have gone on to have incredibly successful careers.”

One such person is Tracy Denny, who was a 2013 scholarship recipient.

Tracy was a successful career woman, working in sales as a senior account manager for several large national and international companies.

“I always had it in the back of my mind that I wanted to try real estate, but there was always the fear of giving up the security of a good income for something completely commission based.

“My husband saw the scholarship ad in the newspaper and told me it was the perfect opportunity for me. I applied and was absolutely thrilled to be accepted.

“I have two sons and so having a regular pay check and the cost of my training and licence paid for was brilliant.”

Tracy says the support from Harcourts has been incredible, with senior team members mentoring her, as well as additional training and support from the Harcourts’ corporate team.

“I am truly thankful to my owners, manager, work colleagues and husband for all their help along the way with my new journey in real estate, all made possible with the scholarship. I look forward to many successful years ahead here at Harcourts.”

The New Zealand Real Estate Scholarship Programme is for a period of twelve months and is available to anyone new to selling real estate. It includes:

• A competitive remuneration package
