Registrations open for NetHui 2015
“The Internet is everybody’s business” - registrations open for NetHui 2015
Exploring how the Internet is influencing Kiwis’ lives now, and what our digital future holds, are the central themes of this year’s NetHui event.
Registrations for NetHui 2015, at SkyCity in Auckland on 8-10 July, are now open. NetHui host InternetNZ is expecting another bumper crowd at the fifth edition of the annual event.
NetHui’s collaborative approach brings together New Zealand’s Internet community to take part in community-led sessions on all kinds of Internet-related issues, political discussions and a fascinating range of side events.
InternetNZ Chief Executive Jordan Carter says a major aim of this year’s NetHui is to attract a broader audience of New Zealanders.
“That’s reflected in our theme this year: The Internet Is Everybody’s Business. NetHui is always exceptionally well supported by the New Zealand ICT community, but we also want to give everyday Kiwis an opportunity to get involved in the conversation, to better understand what’s happening with the Internet now and what’ll happen in the future.”
Speakers already confirmed for NetHui 2015 include Bob Hinden (member and Chair of the Internet Society Board of Trustees), Kathryn C. Brown (Internet Society President and Chief Executive) and the Hon. Amy Adams (Minister for Communications).
Mr Carter says that while experts made an important contribution to NetHui, the event’s real power lay in its collaborative and open approach to anything and everything connected with the Internet.
“NetHui isn’t a conference where people sit around and get spoken at. It’s about people with a common interest in the Internet coming together to share and discuss how the Internet works now and how it needs to work in the future in a way that’s open, uncaptureable and innovative.
“These are the people who will guide thinking and help make decisions about what is arguably the most important technology ever created.”
Registrations for NetHui 2015 are open at 2015.nethui.nz.
