Gull Spreads Its Wings with Opening of 70th Site

Gull is celebrating a milestone with the opening of its 70th site, after the pumps were turned on at Gull Waiuku in Auckland last week.

Gull Waiuku, located at 59 Queen Street, is the third site in the Franklin District for the independent, family owned energy company and is a drive-through, pay-at-pump site, delivering increased convenience to Kiwis who have difficulty slowing down long enough to fill up.

Renowned for keeping competitors honest and prices low, Gull believes that the opening will see a continuation of the ‘Gull Effect’, a localised price drop trend across competitors following Gull’s introduction into a new location.

“Waiuku has, up until now, been a two horse town when it comes to refuelling options. And in our experience, fewer options mean higher prices at the pump. We’re confident that the opening of Gull Waiuku will see the competing petrol stations in town lower their fuel prices in response,” says Karl Mischewski, Retail Development and Sustainability Manager at Gull.

“Not only will the opening of Gull Waiuku benefit local motorists, but also Aucklanders heading out to explore the rugged West Coast and the scenic Awhitu Peninsula on the weekend. Kiwis have a long tradition of taking a leisurely Sunday drive to experience more remote locations and we’re pleased to be able to help them see more or our countryside for less.”

Gull, the independent, family owned energy company, opened the pumps at Gull Waiuku last Friday with a special discounted price of $1.989 for Regular 91 and $1.269 for Diesel.
Gull Waiuku is the 70th Gull site in New Zealand and provides Regular 91, Low Sulphur Diesel and Gull Force 10 (98 Octane) on three dispensers.
