Fibre halfway point is great news

Fibre halfway point is great news

InternetNZ congratulates the Government and its fibre partners on reaching the half way point in the UltraFast Broadband build programme.

"Fibre based Internet is a great leap forward for New Zealand, our communities and our economy" says Jordan Carter, Chief Executive of InternetNZ.

"We are only just scratching the surface of what fibre-based Internet is capable of. Realising this potential is a great opportunity for New Zealand."
InternetNZ is also keenly watching what will happen next in extending both the UltraFast Broadband programme and the Rural Broadband Initiative.

"We applaud any initiative that gets better Internet to more New Zealanders. Our next challenge will be in using these technologies to secure the massive social and economic gains that are possible", says Carter.

Discussing Internet roll-outs, the uses of the Internet and its potential are all topics at this year's NetHui, being held between the 8-10 of July at SkyCity in Auckland.
